So what’s this blog all about? It’s all about Massachusetts and Pizza, home to the Bruin’s, Red Sox & the Celtic’s. However, just mention Pizza and every book, article, essay, TV review or ad goes right to NYC or New Haven then Chicago, etc; Hey…what about Boston? Why don’t we get any credit for our Pizza? We just don’t get no “Pizza-Respect”!
Forget about all those other Pizza copycat places in NYC, Chicago and New Haven, how about Santarpio's in Boston’s North end, started as a Bakery in 1903, then began to offer Pizza in 1933; and Regina Pizzeria, opened up for business in 1926; then there’s Galleria Umberto’s… Come on now we got sum “Wicked Good Pizza” here in Boston.
And were not just limited to Boston, ask any friend, co-worker or the man on the street about their favorite Pizza and they all have their own special “Go-to” Pizzeria. We’re more than just Boston Pizza. As a matter of fact we are like a “country of Pizza”! Just hop in your caaa and drive up to our northern or western mountain areas and you’ll find great Pizzerias; then drive out to our “amalfy coast” (that would be Cape Cod), try the north shore, south shore, again plenty of great Pizzeria’s. Try and find a fresh delicious Lobsta or clam pizza in NYC or Chicago…no way…ours is the best, right of the boat. Toss in a bowl of “Chowda” and you have a meal.
Cheers….Ken-dough...The phantom pizza guru
